What You Need to Know:
When introducing new workspace solutions—such as office phone booths or meeting pods—fire safety can be key consideration for building owners, facility managers, and compliance teams. At MEAVO, we take fire protection seriously and aim to support our customers with transparent information, relevant documentation, and practical installation options.
Fire-safety requirements for office pods vary significantly across countries and regions. Often, each local authority follows its own building codes, testing standards, and fire-protection regulations. Beyond that, inspectors and building owners may interpret those rules differently – it can be highly subjective. This means there is often no universal answer to whether a booth must be connected to a building’s fire-safety system, such as detection or suppression (e.g. sprinklers), unless in some cases, there is very clear guidance from the local authority.
All MEAVO phone booths and meeting pods are manufactured with fire-retardant materials and carry certified test results according to DIN EN 1021-1:2014 (smouldering cigarette) and DIN EN 1021-2:2014 (gas flame – match flame equivalent).
If your building requires the booth to be integrated into its fire-safety system, we cannot carry out the physical connection on your behalf. However, we are happy to assist by pre-drilling the ceiling free of charge to allow your fire-safety contractor to complete the installation smoothly.
Please note:
It is the responsibility of the operator or building owner to ensure that the installation and usage of our pods is reviewed and coordinated within their existing fire safety concept, including any necessary measures such as integration into an existing fire detection system, additional detectors, suppression equipment (e.g. sprinklers), or structural adaptations, and that the installation and usage of our pods adheres to any local codes or regulations where applicable. Our information does not replace an official assessment or a legally binding fire-safety evaluation; upon request, we can provide technical documentation to support this process.
